Here is an old article from the Nation, America's longest-running continuously-published magazine. This article is a classic piece of PC hand-wringing over - hold your horses here - racial stereotypes and how they are promoted in Star Wars! Yes! Thank God someone had the courage to unmask George Lucas and his evil-intended stereotypical low-functioning black man proxy, Jar-Jar Binks. Wow. What a discovery. The term Racial Ventriloquism is an expose of how Lucas uses his hierarchical Star Wars cultures to bullhorn racism by using the characters as virtual ventriloquist dummies. If you read the arcticle carefully, you come away with the realization that there can be no representation of any lower or higher-functioning extra-terrestrial that does not use racism. In fact, the very concept of hierarchy is racist. This kind of post-modern cheapshot at popular culture is classically blank-staring, grey-hearted, self-satisfied, smug, leftwing reductionism which finds all popular humor (read: ignorant, coarse, lower-class humor) in one way or another defiling the Brave New World of their imaginings where everyone lives in a rabbit-warren of flats where everyone eats in a common room and all the childrfen are merrily educated in one big room. And the main teaching would be Marxism-Leniniism with moments off for math and Arabic lessons. The reasoniong in here is hilarious because of the antique doctrinaire dialectic that continues to pour from the pages of this creaking old bulletin stgraight from the 18th Brumaire.
